The Soldier

Veteran's Day -- Thank you to all those who served our country. You deserve so much more than you actually receive.

Soldiers... there are so many things one can say about a soldier. They are brave, unwavering, loyal, trustworthy, honorable, tough, strong, daunting yet undaunted in the face of danger. Full of valor and courage. One could even describe them as graceful in the way they carry themselves with dignity and confidence.

But, there are many soldiers that people don't recognize because they do not wear BDU's or uniforms. They wear camo of a different kind.Mothers and fathers who fight every day to make sure their children have the things they need: a home, an education, clothes, food, and so on.Pastors, ministers, missionaries, prayer warriors, evangelists, Christians who believe we are truly at war with a spiritual enemy...and we are.

In the spiritual war, God is the Commander-in-Chief. Jesus is the General and the Holy Spirit is the Colonel. Pastors, apostles, and others of the 5 fold ministry offices are Majors, Captains and Lieutenants. Bible Study leaders, Sunday School teachers, etc. are the Sergeants and so forth. All have specific duties and priority levels. Everyone, except the top three (the Triune Godhead) starts at the beginning as privates and works their way up the ranks as they fulfill their duties, complete missions, and obey orders as they are sent out.

So, you see, soldiers come in many shapes and forms. We are simply defending different fronts. Some on foreign lands, some are homeland security and others are defending spiritual fronts. Some do it all...however, that is not to say we don't still need each other for back-up from time to time. Yes,we are all soldiers in some way; fighting battles often invisible to others.

I thank God for those who fought/served in the US military, for sure. And we should never forget their sacrifice...many of them the ultimate sacrifice. But, we should never forget the many unsung hero's who fight every day in battles we cannot see.
